APRS in voluntary sea rescue service use

Just now there is quite a bit of APRS activity at sea in front of Helsinki. This very versatile amateur radio service has been made much more visible by integrating APRS data to Google Maps. Just log in to the following site: and zoom to Helsinki. I've understood that this integration of APRS trackers into the voluntary sea rescue vessels is quite unique in the whole world.

Weather services improving

I was very annoyed on Foreca's website. It crashed my Nokia E61 browser when trying to download localized weather information. Now everything has changed. The new Foreca website works like a charm on my E61 and has additional features like extened 6-day prognosis. 10 points to the developer team @ Foreca!

Loire tour in a separate blog

A slight blog diversion here..the Loire tour is in a separate blog, Loire2007.

Holiday mode on :)

Finally on holiday! We drove today 544 km from Vantaa to Lieksa. Took some good 8.5 hours. E drove most, she wants to get adjusted in driving long distances before we hit roads major time later this week.
We ate late lunch in Varkaus at Restaurant Zeppelin. Very recommended if you happen to be passing by the city or visiting the Museum of Mechanical Music (also highly recommended).

Regarding my promises in testing pictures etc..later this week. Also have to test mobile blogging.

Still testing..

Two'ish weeks at work. Had to take today off, because of very muted voice and exessive coughing.

I haven't got familiar with Blogger features yet, but I think I should be getting there quite soon.

I have a good reason. Actually two reasons.

  1. Goin' to the Nordic VUSHF meeting in Norway end of this week.
  2. A great trip in final planning: with a car to France!
I'll try to blog from the road from both occasions. Results remain to be seen..
